Backstory
The Sea Serpent was just minding its own business when a drunk pirate decides to throw random doubloons into the sea. Unbeknownst to the pirate, one of the doubloons struck a King Sea Serpent in the eye, blinding it in one eye - not with rage, but with the shiny promise of more doubloons.
Blinded by pure greed, the King Sea Serpent scarred his tribe by spitting doubloons at their eyes causing all of them to wear eye patches. This enhanced their lust for coin and look to pirate ships as a means to get more.
Some say, that this cursed them and allows them to spit their missing eye at unsuspecting prey.
